My 6 month curriculum is designed for beginner piano players, this includes people who have never even touched a key! It takes them from someone who doesn’t know what a scale is, to someone who can play songs easily recognized by your family at holiday gatherings.
Below is a quick snapshot of what is covered throughout these 6 months.
Months 1-3
- Getting a general feel for the instrument such as basic technique which includes posture and hand position
- Basic music reading such as notes and simple rhythms, quarter notes, rests etc.
- Hands together playing starts, (still in middle C position)
Months 4-6
- Things start feeling more musical as basic chords are introduced
- Simple left-hand accompaniment patterns and simple right handed rhythms are introduced
- Basic music theory such as key signatures and time signatures
- By month 6 playing simple songs with both hands consistently
